Support the welfare and wellbeing of participants and Larkin Service Team members across the Jamboree. Provide a calm, reassuring presence and help individuals feel safe, listened to and supported. Work as part of the Welfare Team to assist with difficult conversations, respond to welfare concerns and ensure issues are handled sensitively and appropriately. Help maintain a positive, caring atmosphere across the event and contribute to a culture where everyone feels valued and safe.

Stage and Ceremonies Roles
Role: Opening & Closing Ceremonies Leader

Role Overview
As the Opening & Closing Ceremonies Leader, you will be responsible for designing, planning and delivering engaging ceremonies that reflect the spirit, values and theme of Larkin 2028. Working as part of the wider Jamboree leadership team, you'll coordinate volunteers, performers, production teams and key stakeholders to bring your vision to life.
From the first welcome to the final farewell, you'll ensure the ceremonies are safe, inclusive, entertaining and unforgettable.
Responsibilities
- Develop the creative vision and programme for both the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
- Recruit, lead and support a team of volunteers to assist with planning and delivery.
- Work collaboratively with the Jamboree Event Leadership Team and other departments to ensure ceremonies align with the overall event programme.
- Coordinate performers, presenters, musicians and guest participants.
- Liaise with production teams regarding staging, sound, lighting, audiovisual requirements and technical logistics.
- Develop and manage the ceremony timeline, rehearsals and event-day operations.
- Ensure all activities are inclusive, accessible and representative of the diversity of Scouting.
- Identify and manage any risks, working within the Jamboree's safety and safeguarding procedures.

- Conduct reviews following each ceremony to capture learning and celebrate success.
Who We're Looking For
Someone who has excellent organisational and project management skills. Is creative, imaginative and enjoys bringing ideas to life, can inspire, motivate and lead a team of volunteers. Role Overview
As a Stage & Ceremonies team member, you'll be part of the team responsible for bringing the Jamboree's main stage to life. You'll support the delivery of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, daytime entertainment, evening shows, Larkin's Got Talent and other special events throughout the Jamboree.
There are opportunities to support a wide range of activities, including stage management, performer coordination, technical production, audience engagement, backstage operations and event logistics. Every volunteer plays an important part in creating a safe, enjoyable and memorable experience for everyone attending.
Responsibilities
Depending on your interests, skills and experience, you may support:
- Backstage and stage management.

Who We are looking for

Previous experience in events, productions, entertainment or stage management is welcome but not essential.
Role: Stage Manager & Coordination Leader

Role Overview
As the Stage Manager & Coordination Leader, you will oversee the day-to-day operation of the main stage, acting as the central point of coordination between performers, presenters, production teams and the Larkin Event Leadership Team.
You'll develop stage schedules, coordinate rehearsals, manage backstage operations and ensure performances start and finish on time. This role is about bringing together all the moving parts behind the scenes so that every stage event is delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the operational management of the main stage throughout the Jamboree.
- Develop and maintain detailed stage schedules, running orders and changeover plans.
- Coordinate rehearsals, technical run-throughs and performance timings.
- Manage backstage operations, ensuring performers and presenters are prepared and in the right place at the right time.
- Act as the primary point of communication between the Ceremonies Leader, Stage Entertainment Leader, production teams and performers.
- Coordinate stage access, equipment movement and performer logistics.
- Work closely with the technical production team to ensure sound, lighting, audiovisual and staging requirements are delivered according to schedule.
- Lead and support a team of stage volunteers and backstage coordinators.
- Monitor live programme delivery and make operational decisions to keep the programme running smoothly when changes arise.
- Ensure all stage activities comply with health and safety, safeguarding and event procedures.
- Support contingency planning and coordinate responses to operational issues or last-minute changes.

Who we are looking for
We're looking for someone who is highly organised with excellent attention to detail. They should enjoy coordinating people, schedules and logistics and have strong leadership and communication skills. Someone who can remain calm under pressure and adapt quickly when plans change, but a confident decision maker in a live event environment. Someone who has experience in stage management, live events, productions, project coordination or similar roles (desirable but not essential).
Role: Stage Technical Team Leader

Role Overview
As the Stage Technical Team Leader, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating and overseeing all technical aspects of the main stage. This includes sound, lighting, audiovisual systems, staging infrastructure, power requirements and technical rehearsals.
Working closely with the Opening & Closing Ceremonies Leader, Stage Entertainment Leader and Stage Manager & Coordination Leader, you'll ensure that every performance and ceremony has the technical support needed to run smoothly.
Whether working with professional production suppliers or volunteer technical teams, you'll provide leadership, coordination and oversight to deliver an outstanding stage experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and delivery of all technical production for the main stage.
- Recruit, lead and support a team of volunteer technicians and technical coordinators.
- Work with production suppliers, contractors and volunteers to deliver sound, lighting, audiovisual and staging requirements.
- Collaborate with the Opening & Closing Ceremonies Leader and Stage Entertainment Leader to understand technical requirements for performances and ceremonies.
- Work closely with the Stage Manager & Coordination Leader to ensure technical rehearsals, stage changeovers and live operations run efficiently.

Someone who has experience in live event production, technical theatre, concerts, festivals or similar environments. Someone with a good understanding of one or more technical disciplines, such as sound, lighting, audiovisual production or staging. You should be an effective leader who can organise and motivate volunteers, with excellent planning and problem-solving skills. Someone who is calm under pressure and able to respond effectively to technical challenges during live events. Communicates clearly and works well with creative, operational and technical teams and is committed to maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism.
External Communications and Media Relations Team Roles
Role: Website Lead

Role Overview
Build and manage the Larkin ‘28 website, making sure information is clear, accurate and up-to-date while ensuring it remains secure and accessible. Report directly to the Team Leader for External Communications and Media Relations.
Responsibilities
- Build and manage the Larkin website with agreed content
- Ensure the site performs well across mobile, tablet and desktop, fixing issues as they arise
- Keep the site compliant with GDPR and data protection requirements
- Handle requests promptly, such as new pages or content changes
- Before the event, ensure information is clear and easily accessible to all users
- During the event, keep the site up to date and showcase the latest news and agreed highlights
- After the event, archive and update pages that are no longer required
Who we are looking for
Individuals with strong website management experience, using WordPress, are strongly desired. Familiarity with Beaver Builder and web design is desirable. A proactive, organised approach with good attention to detail, and the ability to respond promptly to requests is essential.
Larkin ’28 Magazine Lead
Area: External Communications & Media Relations

Role Overview
Lead the magazine team to ensure an engaging, on-brand daily magazine that can be distributed on site and via the website to a wider audience. It will cover all phases of the event, from pre-event promotion through to post-event coverage. Manage a team of reporters and content collectors and work alongside the Team leader for External Communications & Media Relations to ensure publishing deadlines are met.

Water Activities Team Roles
Role: Bell Boating Helm
Area: On-site & Off-Site Programme – Water Activities

Role Overview
As a Bell Boating Helm, you will support the safe delivery of bell boating sessions for participants at Larkin 2028. Working as part of the wider Programme and Water Activities team, you'll provide instruction, supervision and encouragement appropriate to participants' ages, abilities and experience.
From preparing craft, paddles and safety equipment and delivering safety briefings to coaching participants on the water, you'll help ensure every session is safe, well organised, inclusive and fun.
Responsibilities
- Deliver bell boating activities in accordance with the agreed programme, operating procedures and relevant activity guidance.
- Provide clear instruction, demonstrations, coaching and encouragement to participants.
- Complete appropriate safety checks of kayaks, canoes, paddles, buoyancy aids or personal flotation equipment, and activity areas before use.
- Deliver participant safety briefings and ensure appropriate safety equipment is worn and used correctly.
- Supervise participants on and around the water and respond appropriately to changing conditions.
- Work collaboratively with other instructors, activity team members and the Water Activities leadership team.
- Adapt sessions where appropriate to support different ages, abilities, additional needs and levels of kayaking or canoeing experience.
- Follow the Jamboree's safeguarding, safety, emergency and incident-reporting procedures.
- Help prepare, launch, recover, secure and store kayaks, canoes and associated equipment, and report any defects or damage promptly.
- Contribute to a welcoming, positive and memorable experience for everyone taking part.
Ideal Qualifications & Activity Authorisations (Desirable, Not Essential)
A Paddle UK / BCAB Bell Boat Helm qualification, or another appropriate Paddle UK / BCAB instructor, coach or leader qualification, would be ideal/desirable but is not essential.
An appropriate Scouts Adventurous Activity Permit for bell boating or the relevant paddlesport environment is also ideal/desirable, but not essential.
These qualifications, permits and authorisations are ideal but not essential. We also welcome volunteers with strong practical kayaking or canoeing experience who are keen to support the activity team, including those who may work under the direction and safety framework of appropriately qualified instructors, coaches or leaders.
Additional relevant Paddle UK / BCAB leadership, rescue or safety training, safeguarding training and First Aid are also desirable but not essential.

Alternatively, an appropriate Scouts Adventurous Activity Permit for canoeing and/or kayaking, covering the activity and environment being delivered, would be desirable.
These qualifications, permits and authorisations are ideal but not essential. We also welcome volunteers with strong practical kayaking or canoeing experience who are keen to support the activity team, including those who may work under the direction and safety framework of appropriately qualified instructors, coaches or leaders.

- Work collaboratively with other instructors, activity team members and the Water Activities leadership team.
- Adapt sessions where appropriate to support different ages, abilities, additional needs and levels of sailing experience.
- Follow the Jamboree's safeguarding, safety, emergency and incident-reporting procedures.
- Help prepare, launch, recover, secure and store sailing equipment, and report any defects or damage promptly.
- Contribute to a welcoming, positive and memorable experience for everyone taking part.
Ideal Qualifications & Activity Authorisations (Desirable, Not Essential)
Ideally holds an RYA Dinghy Instructor qualification, or a higher/appropriate RYA instructional qualification relevant to the sailing activity being delivered.
Alternatively, an appropriate Scouts Adventurous Activity Permit for sailing covering the craft, environment and activity being delivered would be desirable.
These qualifications, permits and authorisations are ideal but not essential. We also welcome volunteers with strong practical sailing experience who are keen to support the activity team.

Role Overview
As a Stand Up Paddleboard Instructor, you will support the safe delivery of SUP sessions for participants at Larkin 2028. Working as part of the wider Programme and Water Activities team, you'll provide instruction, supervision and encouragement appropriate to participants' ages, abilities and experience.
From preparing boards, paddles and safety equipment and delivering safety briefings to coaching participants on the water, you'll help ensure every session is safe, well organised, inclusive and fun.
Responsibilities
- Deliver stand up paddleboarding activities in accordance with the agreed programme, operating procedures and relevant activity guidance.
- Provide clear instruction, demonstrations, coaching and encouragement to participants.
- Complete appropriate safety checks of paddleboards, paddles, buoyancy aids or personal flotation equipment, leashes where appropriate, and activity areas before use.
- Deliver participant safety briefings and ensure appropriate safety equipment is worn and used correctly.
- Supervise participants on and around the water and respond appropriately to changing conditions.
- Work collaboratively with other instructors, activity team members and the Water Activities leadership team.
- Adapt sessions where appropriate to support different ages, abilities, additional needs and levels of paddleboarding experience.
- Follow the Jamboree's safeguarding, safety, emergency and incident-reporting procedures.
- Help prepare, launch, recover, secure and store paddleboards and associated equipment, and report any defects or damage promptly.
- Contribute to a welcoming, positive and memorable experience for everyone taking part.
Ideal Qualifications & Activity Authorisations (Desirable, Not Essential)
Ideally holds a British Canoeing Awarding Body (BCAB) Stand Up Paddleboard Instructor qualification delivered through Paddle UK / Paddles Up Training, or another appropriate Paddle UK-recognised instructor, coach or leader qualification relevant to the SUP activity being delivered.
Alternatively, an appropriate Scouts Adventurous Activity Permit covering the paddle sport activity and environment being delivered would be desirable.
These qualifications, permits and authorisations are ideal but not essential. We also welcome volunteers with strong practical stand up paddleboarding experience who are keen to support the activity team, including those who may work under the direction and safety framework of appropriately qualified instructors.
Additional relevant Paddle UK / BCAB qualifications, rescue or safety training, safeguarding training and First Aid are also desirable but not essential.

Role Overview
As a Water Activities Team Member, you'll be part of the wider team supporting the day-to-day delivery of the Jamboree water activities. You'll work alongside instructors, activity leaders, permit holders and other volunteers to help sessions run smoothly, safely and on time.
Water Team Members may support activities such as sailing, stand up paddleboarding, kayaking, canoeing, raft building and bell boating, depending on the programme, your experience and the needs of the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Support qualified instructors, activity leaders and permit holders with the safe delivery of water activities.
- Help prepare, move, check, launch, recover and store activity equipment and craft.
- Assist participants with buoyancy aids, helmets and other personal protective equipment where directed.
- Help welcome and organise groups, explain basic activity arrangements and support good behaviour around the water.
- Assist with shore-based supervision, activity changeovers and maintaining safe access to launching and landing areas.
- Help keep equipment, changing areas and activity spaces organised, clean and ready for the next session.
- Report damaged equipment, hazards, incidents or concerns promptly to the activity leader.
- Follow the Jamboree's safety, safeguarding, emergency and water-activity procedures.
- Work flexibly across the Water Activities Team and support other activities where appropriate.
- Help create an inclusive, encouraging and enjoyable experience for every participant.

Programme Team Roles
Onsite Programme Zone Lead
Area: Onsite Programme

Role Overview
The Programme Zone Coordinators will work with the Onsite Program Lead to develop the onsite programme at Larkin 28
Onsite activities are mainly split across multiple fields, each having a zone lead. There are options either for a job share or to split responsibilities within the zone.
- Organise activities to be run in house to supplement those run by external contractors
- Build a team to deliver in house activities throughout the event
- Provide the Site Management Team with information on logistics and service requirements (water, power etc) for activities
- Attend occasional programme team calls and meetings, with increased frequency nearer the event
- Assist with the planning and build of the activity areas during the build week
- Ensure activities are run in accordance with POR
What we are looking for
Someone with:
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.

- Good decision-making skills, and the ability to problem solve when needed.
- Able to attend the full jamboree including some days during the build week to prepare activities

Programme Team Member

Role Overview
Help with the safe delivery of the program of Larkin Jamboree '28, running or helping deliver various kinds of activities or challenges for the participants of the jamboree. Working with a team of volunteers who are like minded in delivering the best program we can during the event.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Program Leadership team before and during the event, so you know what program we have on, what we need from you and how the delivery will run.
- Assist with the delivery of the activities, we will have plans but will want input if you have any!
- Not just be a team member but also be a friendly face for the participants, and be a safe member of the Larkin Service Team.

Security Team Lead

Role Overview
Support the Site Operations Lead by taking ownership of the Security & Stewarding for Larkin 2028. Leading a team of volunteers to manage site security and safety, as well as providing support for other functions within the event during busy periods such as arrivals and departures.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Site Operations Lead to deliver a safe and secure site
- Assist with the installation, maintenance and removal of security infrastructure, including, but not limited to signage, CCTV systems, gates/access points.
- Manage a team of volunteers in security and stewarding roles
- Own the relationship with chosen 3rd party security providers
- Coordinate deployment of security/stewarding teams across the event, including response teams
- Promote safe working practices and help ensure security infrastructure is maintained to a high standard throughout the event
This role will cover a 24 hour period across the live event, and so there may be a requirement for shift work within this role.

Role Overview
Support the Site Operations Lead by taking ownership of the Traffic & Transport for Larkin 2028. Working with a team of volunteers to manage arrivals, departures and long stay parking onsite, as well as day visitors. Provide management of coach operations throughout the event duration
Responsibilities
- Work with the Site Operations Lead to deliver safe transport provision
- Assist with the installation, maintenance and removal parking infrastructure, including line marking, lane set up & signage
- Manage a team of volunteers in parking roles
- Own the relationship with chosen transport providers, including coach companies, and where appropriate, traffic management companies and local highways
- Coordinate coach transport for the duration of the event, to include arrivals, departures and movement to offsite activities
- Promote safe working practices and help ensure transport infrastructure is maintained to a high standard throughout the event

Help with the safe delivery of the physical infrastructure that keeps Larkin Jamboree '28 running safely and efficiently. Working with a team of volunteers installing, maintaining and removing essential site services, while working alongside the Infrastructure Lead to ensure all areas of the site are operational before, during and after the event.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Infrastructure Lead to deliver site infrastructure across all phases of the event
- Assist with the installation, maintenance and removal of power and lighting systems
- Support the setup and maintenance of marquees, structures and site equipment
- Help install water distribution and infrastructure across the site
- Help with the installation of toilets and shower facilities
- Assist with the management of plant, machinery and site equipment
- Promote safe working practices and help ensure infrastructure is maintained to a high standard throughout the event
