Larkin International Jamboree simply wouldn’t happen without The Larkin Service Team - its volunteers. Every role plays an important part in bringing the event together and creating a safe, enjoyable experience for thousands of young people.

Lead the creation and delivery of the Larkin Challenge Award - a fun, engaging and inclusive challenge designed for participants of all ages across the Jamboree. Develop a challenge that encourages adventure, teamwork and personal achievement, ensuring it is accessible, exciting and memorable. Work with programme teams and sub camp teams to embed the challenge into the wider event experience. Provide clear guidance, resources and support to ensure the challenge runs smoothly and consistently throughout the Jamboree.

Support the welfare and wellbeing of participants and Larkin Service Team members across the Jamboree. Provide a calm, reassuring presence and help individuals feel safe, listened to and supported. Work as part of the Welfare Team to assist with difficult conversations, respond to welfare concerns and ensure issues are handled sensitively and appropriately. Help maintain a positive, caring atmosphere across the event and contribute to a culture where everyone feels valued and safe.

Stage and Ceremonies Roles
Role: Opening & Closing Ceremonies Leader

As the Opening & Closing Ceremonies Leader, you will be responsible for designing, planning and delivering engaging ceremonies that reflect the spirit, values and theme of Larkin 2028. Working as part of the wider Jamboree leadership team, you'll coordinate volunteers, performers, production teams and key stakeholders to bring your vision to life.
From the first welcome to the final farewell, you'll ensure the ceremonies are safe, inclusive, entertaining and unforgettable.
Responsibilities
- Develop the creative vision and programme for both the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
- Recruit, lead and support a team of volunteers to assist with planning and delivery.
- Work collaboratively with the Jamboree Event Leadership Team and other departments to ensure ceremonies align with the overall event programme.
- Coordinate performers, presenters, musicians and guest participants.
- Liaise with production teams regarding staging, sound, lighting, audiovisual requirements and technical logistics.
- Develop and manage the ceremony timeline, rehearsals and event-day operations.
- Ensure all activities are inclusive, accessible and representative of the diversity of Scouting.
- Identify and manage any risks, working within the Jamboree's safety and safeguarding procedures.
- Manage any allocated budget effectively and responsibly.
- Conduct reviews following each ceremony to capture learning and celebrate success.

Role Overview
As a Stage & Ceremonies team member, you'll be part of the team responsible for bringing the Jamboree's main stage to life. You'll support the delivery of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, daytime entertainment, evening shows, Larkin's Got Talent and other special events throughout the Jamboree.
There are opportunities to support a wide range of activities, including stage management, performer coordination, technical production, audience engagement, backstage operations and event logistics. Every volunteer plays an important part in creating a safe, enjoyable and memorable experience for everyone attending.
Responsibilities
Depending on your interests, skills and experience, you may support:
- Backstage and stage management.
- Performer check-in and coordination.
- Assisting with rehearsals and stage changeovers.
- Supporting the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
- Helping deliver daytime and evening entertainment.
- Supporting Larkin's Got Talent and other stage events.

Who We are looking for
We're looking for team members who enjoy working as part of a team, have a positive, flexible and can-do attitude. Team members should be reliable and willing to get involved wherever needed. A good communicator and a people person. Someone who can stay calm and adaptable in a busy event environment.
Previous experience in events, productions, entertainment or stage management is welcome but not essential.
Role: Stage Manager & Coordination Leader

Role Overview
As the Stage Manager & Coordination Leader, you will oversee the day-to-day operation of the main stage, acting as the central point of coordination between performers, presenters, production teams and the Larkin Event Leadership Team.
You'll develop stage schedules, coordinate rehearsals, manage backstage operations and ensure performances start and finish on time. This role is about bringing together all the moving parts behind the scenes so that every stage event is delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the operational management of the main stage throughout the Jamboree.
- Develop and maintain detailed stage schedules, running orders and changeover plans.
- Coordinate rehearsals, technical run-throughs and performance timings.
- Manage backstage operations, ensuring performers and presenters are prepared and in the right place at the right time.
- Act as the primary point of communication between the Ceremonies Leader, Stage Entertainment Leader, production teams and performers.
- Coordinate stage access, equipment movement and performer logistics.
- Work closely with the technical production team to ensure sound, lighting, audiovisual and staging requirements are delivered according to schedule.
- Lead and support a team of stage volunteers and backstage coordinators.
- Monitor live programme delivery and make operational decisions to keep the programme running smoothly when changes arise.
- Ensure all stage activities comply with health and safety, safeguarding and event procedures.
- Support contingency planning and coordinate responses to operational issues or last-minute changes.
- Participate in planning meetings before the event and contribute to continuous improvement following the Jamboree.
Who we are looking for
We're looking for someone who is highly organised with excellent attention to detail. They should enjoy coordinating people, schedules and logistics and have strong leadership and communication skills. Someone who can remain calm under pressure and adapt quickly when plans change, but a confident decision maker in a live event environment. Someone who has experience in stage management, live events, productions, project coordination or similar roles (desirable but not essential).
Role: Stage Technical Team Leader

Role Overview
As the Stage Technical Team Leader, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating and overseeing all technical aspects of the main stage. This includes sound, lighting, audiovisual systems, staging infrastructure, power requirements and technical rehearsals.
Working closely with the Opening & Closing Ceremonies Leader, Stage Entertainment Leader and Stage Manager & Coordination Leader, you'll ensure that every performance and ceremony has the technical support needed to run smoothly.
Whether working with professional production suppliers or volunteer technical teams, you'll provide leadership, coordination and oversight to deliver an outstanding stage experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and delivery of all technical production for the main stage.
- Recruit, lead and support a team of volunteer technicians and technical coordinators.
- Work with production suppliers, contractors and volunteers to deliver sound, lighting, audiovisual and staging requirements.
- Collaborate with the Opening & Closing Ceremonies Leader and Stage Entertainment Leader to understand technical requirements for performances and ceremonies.
- Work closely with the Stage Manager & Coordination Leader to ensure technical rehearsals, stage changeovers and live operations run efficiently.
- Develop technical schedules, equipment requirements and rehearsal plans.
- Coordinate technical setup, testing, commissioning and event-day support.
- Ensure all equipment is operated safely and in accordance with relevant regulations and best practice.

Someone who has experience in live event production, technical theatre, concerts, festivals or similar environments. Someone with a good understanding of one or more technical disciplines, such as sound, lighting, audiovisual production or staging. You should be an effective leader who can organise and motivate volunteers, with excellent planning and problem-solving skills. Someone who is calm under pressure and able to respond effectively to technical challenges during live events. Communicates clearly and works well with creative, operational and technical teams and is committed to maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism.
External Communications and Media Relations Team Roles
Role: Website Lead

Role Overview
Build and manage the Larkin ‘28 website, making sure information is clear, accurate and up-to-date while ensuring it remains secure and accessible. Report directly to the Team Leader for External Communications and Media Relations.
Responsibilities
- Build and manage the Larkin website with agreed content
- Ensure the site performs well across mobile, tablet and desktop, fixing issues as they arise
- Keep the site compliant with GDPR and data protection requirements
- Handle requests promptly, such as new pages or content changes
- Before the event, ensure information is clear and easily accessible to all users
- During the event, keep the site up to date and showcase the latest news and agreed highlights
- After the event, archive and update pages that are no longer required
Who we are looking for
Individuals with strong website management experience, using WordPress, are strongly desired. Familiarity with Beaver Builder and web design is desirable. A proactive, organised approach with good attention to detail, and the ability to respond promptly to requests is essential.
Water Activities Team Roles
Role: Bell Boating Instructor
Area: On-site & Off-Site Programme – Water Activities
Role level: Event Volunteer
Role Overview
As a Bell Boating Instructor, you will support the safe delivery of bell boating sessions for participants at Larkin 2028. Working as part of the wider Programme and Water Activities team, you'll provide instruction, supervision and encouragement appropriate to participants' ages, abilities and experience.
From preparing craft, paddles and safety equipment and delivering safety briefings to coaching participants on the water, you'll help ensure every session is safe, well organised, inclusive and fun.
Responsibilities
- Deliver bell boating activities in accordance with the agreed programme, operating procedures and relevant activity guidance.
- Provide clear instruction, demonstrations, coaching and encouragement to participants.
- Complete appropriate safety checks of kayaks, canoes, paddles, buoyancy aids or personal flotation equipment, and activity areas before use.
- Deliver participant safety briefings and ensure appropriate safety equipment is worn and used correctly.
- Supervise participants on and around the water and respond appropriately to changing conditions.
- Work collaboratively with other instructors, activity team members and the Water Activities leadership team.
- Adapt sessions where appropriate to support different ages, abilities, additional needs and levels of kayaking or canoeing experience.
- Follow the Jamboree's safeguarding, safety, emergency and incident-reporting procedures.
- Help prepare, launch, recover, secure and store kayaks, canoes and associated equipment, and report any defects or damage promptly.
- Contribute to a welcoming, positive and memorable experience for everyone taking part.
Ideal Qualifications & Activity Authorisations (Desirable, Not Essential)
A Paddle UK / BCAB Bell Boat Helm qualification, or another appropriate Paddle UK / BCAB instructor, coach or leader qualification, would be ideal/desirable but is not essential.
An appropriate Scouts Adventurous Activity Permit for bell boating or the relevant paddlesport environment is also ideal/desirable, but not essential.
These qualifications, permits and authorisations are ideal but not essential. We also welcome volunteers with strong practical kayaking or canoeing experience who are keen to support the activity team, including those who may work under the direction and safety framework of appropriately qualified instructors, coaches or leaders.

As a Kayak & Canoe Instructor, you will support the safe delivery of kayaking and canoeing sessions for participants at Larkin 2028. Working as part of the wider Programme and Water Activities team, you'll provide instruction, supervision and encouragement appropriate to participants' ages, abilities and experience.

Role Overview
As a Raft Building Instructor, you will support the safe delivery of raft building sessions for participants at Larkin 2028. Working as part of the wider Programme and Water Activities team, you'll provide instruction, supervision and encouragement appropriate to participants' ages, abilities and experience.
From preparing craft, paddles and safety equipment and delivering safety briefings to coaching participants on the water, you'll help ensure every session is safe, well organised, inclusive and fun.
Responsibilities
- Deliver raft building activities in accordance with the agreed programme, operating procedures and relevant activity guidance.
- Provide clear instruction, demonstrations, coaching and encouragement to participants.
- Complete appropriate safety checks of kayaks, canoes, paddles, buoyancy aids or personal flotation equipment, and activity areas before use.
- Deliver participant safety briefings and ensure appropriate safety equipment is worn and used correctly.
- Supervise participants on and around the water and respond appropriately to changing conditions.
- Work collaboratively with other instructors, activity team members and the Water Activities leadership team.
- Adapt sessions where appropriate to support different ages, abilities, additional needs and levels of kayaking or canoeing experience.
- Follow the Jamboree's safeguarding, safety, emergency and incident-reporting procedures.
- Help prepare, launch, recover, secure and store kayaks, canoes and associated equipment, and report any defects or damage promptly.
- Contribute to a welcoming, positive and memorable experience for everyone taking part.
Ideal Qualifications & Activity Authorisations (Desirable, Not Essential)
Ideally holds an appropriate British Canoeing Awarding Body (BCAB) / Paddle UK qualification, such as Paddlesport Instructor, Paddlesport Leader, Coach Award, or another instructor, coach or leader qualification appropriate to the craft and environment being used.
An appropriate Scouts Adventurous Activity Permit relevant to raft building or paddlesports is also desirable, where applicable.
These qualifications, permits and authorisations are ideal but not essential. We also welcome volunteers with strong practical kayaking or canoeing experience who are keen to support the activity team, including those who may work under the direction and safety framework of appropriately qualified instructors, coaches or leaders.
Additional relevant Paddle UK / BCAB leadership, rescue or safety training, safeguarding training and First Aid are also desirable but not essential.

These qualifications, permits and authorisations are ideal but not essential. We also welcome volunteers with strong practical sailing experience who are keen to support the activity team.
Additional relevant qualifications, such as RYA Powerboat, Safety Boat or First Aid, are also desirable but not essential.

Role Overview
As a Water Activities Team Member, you'll be part of the wider team supporting the day-to-day delivery of the Jamboree water activities. You'll work alongside instructors, activity leaders, permit holders and other volunteers to help sessions run smoothly, safely and on time.
Water Team Members may support activities such as sailing, stand up paddleboarding, kayaking, canoeing, raft building and bell boating, depending on the programme, your experience and the needs of the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Support qualified instructors, activity leaders and permit holders with the safe delivery of water activities.
- Help prepare, move, check, launch, recover and store activity equipment and craft.
- Assist participants with buoyancy aids, helmets and other personal protective equipment where directed.
- Help welcome and organise groups, explain basic activity arrangements and support good behaviour around the water.
- Assist with shore-based supervision, activity changeovers and maintaining safe access to launching and landing areas.
- Help keep equipment, changing areas and activity spaces organised, clean and ready for the next session.
- Report damaged equipment, hazards, incidents or concerns promptly to the activity leader.
- Follow the Jamboree's safety, safeguarding, emergency and water-activity procedures.
- Work flexibly across the Water Activities Team and support other activities where appropriate.
- Help create an inclusive, encouraging and enjoyable experience for every participant.
Who we are looking for
- Someone who is enthusiastic, reliable and happy to work as part of a busy water activities team.
- Is comfortable working outdoors and around water in changing weather conditions.
- Has a positive approach to supporting young people and volunteers.
- Can follow instructions and work safely within agreed procedures.
- Is willing to help with practical tasks, equipment and activity changeovers.
- Previous paddlesport, sailing or water-activity experience is ideal but not essential.
- Paddle UK, RYA or Scouts adventurous activity qualifications or permits are welcome but are not required for this team member role.
- Is able to commit time during the Jamboree and, where possible, to relevant briefings or preparation.
