Role Overview
This role will be responsible, along with the Scout Nights Away Permit holder, for the Youth Media Team camping area and the welfare of the Youth Media Team.
- Must be over 18 and hold the Girlguiding Going Away Licence for Rangers – Modules 1-4 and 8
- Be responsible for setting up the camping area for the Youth Media Team in conjunction with the Scout Nights Away Campsite Permit holder.
- Be an active part of the wider Communications Team and help and support the team members whilst at camp
- Ensure Youth Media Team members are fulfilling their roles and are on shift at the designated time and in the correct attire.
- Look after the welfare of the Youth Media Team
- Work with the Youth Media Team to provide entertainment/activities for their down time
- The team will be catered for, so catering does not form part of this role, although you will need to ensure everyone is eating regularly
- Attend the Youth Media Team Training Weekend in early 2024
- To support and plan the running of any team meetings and presentations where relevant.
- Regular communication with the Youth Media Team Manager providing updates to the Senior Leadership Team when needed.
Person Specification
- Good decision-making skills, and the ability to problem solve when needed.
- Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills.
Skills / Qualifications Required for role
- Experience in leading a group of youth participants at a large jamboree or event.
- Experience in managing a team of volunteers
General
- To hold a valid Scout Association DBS check
- To undertake any relevant training you are requested to complete, including but not limited to Health & Safety and Safeguarding
- To undertake any role / work which may be required by your department head
- When requested, to assist in the smooth and safe running of the camp as a whole. This may include tasks not normally associated with your department
- Able to work collaboratively with a team
- Friendly and approachable
